Over the YearsThe Eastbourne Half Marathon has been instrumental in raising funds for a whole host of good causes. Many entrants choose to support their favourite causes but those who prefer to put their sponsorship "into the pot" will want to know how it is distributed. Each year we nominate a lead charity or charities but we always reserve funds for smaller donations to be made to local good causes. Uur primary charity is once again Chestnut Tree House who are the only children's hospice in Sussex and are a life saver for many families who have children with serious disabilities ![]() After the proceeds from the event have been totalled we invite local schools, clubs, associations, charities and individuals to apply for funds which are usually in the range £200-500. These funds might be to pay for a certain item of equipment, to facilitate a bigger project or provide support where no other source is available. The list of causes and beneficiaries is wide ranging and has included:
![]() In earlier years the Eastbourne Half Marathon has supported many local charities including Southern FM's Help A Local Child, the RNLI, St. Wilfrid's Hospice, Chestnut Tree House, Patched, Friends of the Eastbourne Hospitals, British Heart Foundation and Eastbourne and South Wealden MS Society.
